The “Brusselse bibliotheken” are the Dutch speaking public libraries in the Brussels-Capital Region. The libraries are autonomous but they share a collective library management system and they have a union catalogue. They develop a shared vision on a metropolitan context, and work together on projects about reading and literacy promotion, literacy and ICT, cataloguing and collection management.
The Flemish Community Commission (“Vlaamse Gemeenschapscommissie”) is the hub of the Flemish Community in the Brussels-Capital Region. It gives form and content to the capital from the point of view of Dutch-speakers and is the competent authority for issues relating to culture, education, well-being and health. The Flemish Community Commission supports the Dutch speaking public libraries in the Capital Region.
