Participating
Cycling for libraries is an event for library professionals and people related to the profession; students, teachers, professors, library assistants and directors, software vendors, family, politicians all are welcome. We believe in getting out of our everyday typical environments at our libraries, offices and auditoriums and going outdoors, out to the world. This innovative concept has been tested, and it is proven to work; a long bicycling journey is a fantastic structure for a professional event.
We will organize food, accommodation, luggage transport and all programme, and everything will be included in the registration fee of 250€. You only need to arrange yourself, your bicycle and luggage to Vilnius, and then continue from Tallinn.
Cycling for libraries is in the english language, and all the programme will be open and free to everyone.
This is not a competitive sports event. The daily distances are not too long for anyone who is reasonably healthy and has a reasonable bicycle. The whole group will ride together, and we guarantee nobody will be left behind.
You can join the Facebook -event or chat on Twitter with hashtag #cyc4lib.
To see what it is like, see the videos from our Cycling for libraries Copenhagen-Berlin in May-June 2011. Together with Kirjastokaista, we made 3 minute videos of all 9 days from Copenhagen to Berlin, and also 30 minute documentary movie.
Registration
Registration was open from 1st of April 2012 until the 8th of May, and is now finished. Thank you everyone!
Other events
We recommend that you join an another unconference, the IFLAcamp in Hämeenlinna, Finland on 9-10.8.2012. It is organized by our very good friends, the IFLA New Professionals Special Interest Group (IFLA NPSIG). See the IFLAcamp website for more information.
We also recommend that you will attend the 78th IFLA World Library and Information Congress (WLIC) 2012 in Helsinki (aka IFLA 2012), which is the unofficial satellite-postconference and afterparty of Cycling for libraries :^)

I will not be attending IFLA 2012 but would like to take part in the cycling for libraries event. Will I be considered for the event?
Hi Antony. Though we are synchronizing with IFLA enjoying the synergy, Cycling for libraries is a completely independent event and you’re certainly welcome to only join our unconference. I’m glad you’re interested.
Cool! Can’t we ride into Flow Festival before checking in to IFLA? ^^
Flow is cool indeed

Hi Mace & Jukka,
Just registrated. You may have to support again this French librarian lover for a the new tour.
Hope to be selected. I cross all the fingers I have (not so easy to write on the computer though.)
See you for this wonderful experience again.
Michel.
Sounds fun. But I wonder how to transport my bike from Helsinki to Vilnius. And back from Talinn. That is the biggest challenge for me. I am looking for some cheap ways of transport. I have heard of suitcase meant for bikes.
Anybody from Helsinki flying to Vilnius?
Hi Palash. I have the same problem. Have you found a good solution? I found this old topic in Finnish: http://keskustelu.suomi24.fi/node/2050208
So bus/train could be one option?

The project is a great idea. Hope to join you in Vilnius and Trakai.
